News broke a couple weeks ago that The Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson was to become a grandmother as her daughter Briana Wolfsmith Culberson was expecting her first child with husband, and fellow elopee, Ryan Culberson.

As anyone who watches the show knows, Vicki was none too happy about Briana eloping as the Bravolebrity matriarch did what Vicki does best and made the whole thing about herself. (Seriously, if a grown woman or man wants to elope, that is THEIR choice! Yeesh!) But, Briana was willing to give her mom a little of what she thought she had been denied by having a beautiful, small wedding ceremony at the Bacara Resort and Spa just outside of Santa Barbara, California over the weekend.

As an added treat for those in attendance, wedding photographer “Whitney Darling” revealed on her blog, “Briana and Ryan cut the cake to find out the gender of their baby! Probably my favorite part of the wedding.”

So what was the color?

BLUE!!! IT’S A BOY!!!

By the way, you can see TONS of beautiful photos of Briana and Ryan Culberson’s wedding (as well as an inspiring metaphysical account!) over at WhitneyDarling.com!

Congratulations to Briana and Ryan, not only for their lovely wedding, but also for seeming to tame the Vicki tiger by having the public ceremony. “I have chosen to accept Ryan into our family and I am proud to announce this past weekend we celebrated a beautiful destination wedding with 75 family members and their closest friends,” Vicki wrote on her Bravo blog. “It was a beautiful ceremony and celebration, one filled with love, dancing, and wonderful food.”

As you might expect with any Gunvalson affair, there was a little bit of drama involved. “Brooks was in attendance,” Vicki writes, “and so was Donn with his girlfriend. It was a bit uncomfortable at first having them meet, but at the end of the day it was for Briana and Ryan. Donn and Brooks shook hands, and both were very respectful of each other.”

So what about all the recent drama on the show? “The episode you saw tonight, happened well over seven months ago, and TIME does heal. We are in a much better place today, and I am grateful for that.”

“I am so happy for Briana and Ryan, and I know Briana is happy for me,” she adds.

Vicki wrapped things up with some big picture philosophizing to put it all in perspective. “I don’t know what my future holds, but all that I do know is life is short. . .or life is long. None of us really know when we will be called home to our Lord. Live each day as if it’s your last, surround yourself with positive people, and let the haters be haters. I choose not to listen to it, and to follow my own heart. It’s never let me down yet.”

I like how Vicki is also wearing what looks like a wedding dress at Brianna’s wedding.

I see you guys gave in to people’s complaints over using sex and gender.

On another note, why does blue have to signify a boy? A girl could easily like blue. Or maybe the boy grows up and enjoys pink. People need to stop using colors to stereotype people! We don’t all fit neatly into pink and blue categories! LOL totally kidding but really where do we draw the line on what everyone gets offended by?

A different writer wrote this one ; ). We would probably use gender again on this website, put a lot of time into defending it.

BTW, at one point in the early 20th century pink was assigned to boys and blue to girls (before that both wore white.)

…. the pink and blue thing is part of the sex vs gender debate. So there you are complaining about people pointing out the bigger issue, and in the very next sentence there you are complaining about the same thing.

Honestly, people get offended about everything these days. If you don’t like the gender norms ascribed by our society to men and woman than don’t follow them. There’s plenty of “norms” I’m not a fan of, but instead of getting up on my soap box about every little thing I don’t like, I ignore them. People honestly believe that, if they don’t like it or ascribe to it, it just shouldn’t exist anymore. Raise your kids the way you want to, and stay out of other people’s business; if its not hurting anybody, ignore it, and live your life.

I agree 100%! Not to be insensitive, but it really seems like the lgbt is totally taking over the world. You can’t do anything or say anything that may hurt their feelings. Like gender and sex? c’mon people, get over yourselves!
