Teen Mom Farrah Abraham talks STD scare in sex ed video

Teen Momtrepeneur Farrah Abraham has taken it upon herself to help educate teens about the penis, vagina, and sexually transmitted diseases in the form of a ten-minute-plus PSA video. Farrah posted the clip to her YouTube account and via her official website, and offers the showing of it to audiences as part of her appearance package.

In the clip Farrah breaks it all down like one of those videos you had to watch as a freshman in high school. But, instead of it being a lady from the 1960s, it’s Farrah telling you all about herpes, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. Pay close attention students because there’s actually a survey at the end! We’ll call it a pop (culture) quiz.

As part of that clip Farrah shared her own scare with having a Pap smear come back positive for HPV. According to the CDC HPV is:

Genital human papillomavirus (also called HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). There are more than 40 HPV types that can infect the genital areas of males and females. These HPV types can also infect the mouth and throat. Most people who become infected with HPV do not even know they have it.

Here’s a portion of what Farrah shared:

After I had my child, then I went and got my annual Pap smear. My Pap smear came back showing that HPV cells were active. So, my doctor recommended the Gardasil shot. Now many girls have heard of this, also young males I’m sure have as well. So I figured this is my chance to cure it and I was all for it… So my self-confidence went down as well with dealing with a newborn baby and body changes and everything going on at that time.

So I took my shots and then I went and got tested again. Luckily everything went away and my body was back to normal.

She added, “I also want to say through, you know, all of these tough situations that deal with our crotch, you know self-confidence and being embarrassed happens and I really wish that nobody has to go through this, and that’s why I’m doing this short video.”

At the end we learn it is her singing that can be heard as the credits roll. Also, if you were unable to catch the clip, and missed the educationally-assisting costume she donned, or if you did and were left astonished, you can check out a full-length photo of that here.

As far as the pop culture quiz, Farrah set up a survey to see how well you know the topics. If you’re interested you can participate here.

Wow… She really sucks at this.

I really do not think Farrah is the best person to be talking to anyone. On Teen Mom she was always so cold and unfriendly, I just cannot see her making a connection with people. She’s not a friendly happy person that people want to get to know or listen to.

I think her being “cold and unfriendly” as you put it is a lot more genuine than the fake, peppy front that lets say, Maci Bookout puts on.
She doesn’t have to be happy for anyone. She has had to deal with a lot of sh*t in her life that most people would not be able to cope with.
What is important is that she does a good job of being the best mother she can to Sophia. She isn’t bring man after man into her life like Maci and Amber have been shown to do.

I think its really weird she mentioned sterilization at the top of the list, and actually at all since she was talking about teen sex health. No doctor will sterilize a teen, even if they have a genetic disorder they don’t pass on. Many have to struggle to get this done even at 25, unless they have already reproduced several times.

i really dislike her. she’s only doing all of this crap to keep her name out there.

Good call on the sterilization thing… I’m not sure I would recommend this to really young girls, nor do I think they could just get sterilized. I know a 22 year old who has 2 kids and asked her doctor after the 2nd one to do it and they wouldn’t, saying she was too young to make that decision.

LMAO at her “singing” at the end. WTF was that?!

If she’s going to “educate” people, she should AT LEAST try to be accurate. The HPV vaccines do NOT treat active infections or cure infections.

From the CDC: Gardasil “HPV vaccines will not treat or get rid of existing HPV infections. Also, HPV vaccines do not treat or cure health problems (like cancer or warts) caused by an HPV infection that occurred before vaccination”.

Most people with HPV eventually test negative because the immune system gets the HPV virus under control eventually but it can recur at any time.

Vaccines are not without some serious health risks and they should not be given or promoted under the circumstances described.

How are people supposed to take this seriously with House music playing in the background and her in penis and vagina costumes? LOL

    • yeah…no

“So I figured this is my chance to cure it and I was all for it…”

ummmm note to Farrah: HPV is not curable. if you test positive for HPV, getting the Gardasil vaccine will not make your infection “go away.” but the vaccine will prevent you from catching even more of the most common 4 HPV strains. the one you had before the vaccine will remain in your body for the rest of your life. her doctor probably told her this but she’s not the brightest crayon in the box and probably just rolled her eyes like she does at anyone who tries to help her.

this girl is babbling misinformation and is actually causing more harm than good by making misleading videos.

if you have HPV concerns, a RELIABLE source is the CDC, check it out here: http://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/pap/default.htm
