Back in November troubled country singer Mindy McCready announced she was expecting twins, but she revealed today that she gave birth to only one child, son Zayne, on April 9.
“At the time of the initial announcement surrounding Mindy’s pregnancy,” Mindy’s rep tells E! News, “in consideration of her size, Mindy was certain she was carrying twins; a misinterpreted sonogram seemed to support her feelings and excitement.”
Mindy and Zayne’s father, David Wilson, issued a statement earlier today. “Zayne is truly a blessing and a joy,” they said. “It was a long and trying pregnancy; we’re so happy he’s here. There are no words to convey how happy we are.”
The news comes five months after McCready, who spent a season on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, was accused of kidnapping her other son, Zander (6), from her parents (Zander’s legal guardians) in Florida. Mindy and Zander were later found hiding in a closet in a home in Arkansas believed to belong to McCready’s boyfriend.
She later seemed happy with the judge’s decision in a child-welfare hearing in December, saying she was “a happy girl right now.” The court case was sealed so she couldn’t reveal specifics, but she texted “WE WON!!! ZAN STAYS,” to HLN’s Jane Velez Mitchell later that night. “I love Judge Harrod, I’ll tell you that,” she said. “He’s a good man.”
I really hope Mindy has her act together – for her sake, but especially for the sake of her two boys.
As far as the twins thing and the “misinterpreted sonogram,” is that something that happens often? I don’t have a lot of experience with pregnancies, but I’ve never heard of anything like that before.
