Folks get fired up when it comes to any interactions between superstars Rihanna and Chris Brown.

Everyone knows about the violence inflicted upon Rihanna by Brown back in 2009. Chris is still under probation for it and there are many who refuse to forgive the man for his actions. Rihanna just so happens to not be one of these people unable to forgive.

Rihanna dialed up Ryan Seacrest during his radio show and after being asked explained why she reached out to Brown to record a duet for her track “Birthday Cake” and subsequently returned the favor on his “Turn Up the Music.”

Rihanna said:

“I reached out to him about doing ‘Birthday Cake’ because that’s the only person that really – it made sense to do the record. Just as a musician, despite everything else that was going to be the person. I thought about rappers, and I’ve done that so many times, and the hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown. So I wanted him on the track.”

So what Rihanna is saying is that it’s all about business. She added this nugget:

“There shouldn’t be a divide between my fans and his fans. It’s music and it’s innocent.”

    Her “logic” is sh*t.

That’s the equivalent to if I went back to the firm that a higher up who raped me works at, and explained it to someone as: Oh, I went back to the firm because I made better money there. It doesn’t matter that the man who raped me works there too, or that we’re working together. It’s just business.

See how stupid that sounds? People would tell me that I was ridiculous and stupid for doing such a thing, especially since I didn’t NEED to hypothetically return to the firm, and people should acknowledge that Rihanna did NOT make a smart decision (I am not saying SHE is stupid, but her decision was). She made a decision that will make survivors of violent crimes think that it is OK and SAFE to interact with or work with or have any sort of dealings with the FELONS, the CRIMINALS who hurt them, but it’s NOT. Maybe it’s time she thought about the impact she has on our culture, society, and the healing of violent crime survivors, ESPECIALLY since she is a violent crime survivor in the spotlight. Her choices matter.
