REPORT Jenelle Evans and Leah Messer threaten to quit Teen Mom 2 over money

Reality Weekly reports Teen Moms Jenelle Evans and Leah Messer are threatening to quit ove rmoney

Reality Weekly sure loves them some Teen Mom stories! The publication has only been around a few months and it seems like every other issue has had Jenelle or Leah on the cover, including their premiere issue with the announcement that Leah was pregnant. This week the magazine features both Jenelle and Leah as the main cover story with the headline, “Teen Mom Bombshells – After the Finale: WHO’S QUITTING!

According to the article, Jenelle and Leah are upset that their fame hasn’t seemed to translate into a proportionate amount of pay.

“Whenever the issue of spin-off shows for the cast of Teen Mom 2 comes up, Leah has been holding her hand out for more cash,” an insider tells them. “She really has gotten a big head because of all the attention. A lot of people in Elk View joke that she’s like the redneck Kim Kardashian.”

Leah is also worried about the toll being on the show has taken on her personal life, according to the source. “Leah says she’s fed up with the interference in her life, and she can’t take any more,” the insider reveals. ”It’s no wonder she’s cautious. She’s already been through more stress in a year then some people face in a lifetime.”

UPDATE - Leah’s mom has responded to the article on Twitter by writing:

“I can NOT speak for jenelle ! But as far as Leah’s part goes. BS! My gosh Jeremy makes more in a week than Leah makes in a month BS article on Leah’s part starcasm”

@TM2LeahFans - “I knew this wasnt true about Leah. I would love to know what ‘Source’ gave them that info!”

@MommaDawnSpears - @TM2LeahFans they probably got money like others to sale a BS ARTICLE #nothing new

Reality Weekly March 2012 cover with Leah Messer and Jenelle Evans

Jenelle Evans’ manager Leo Daniels also spoke with the tabloid, saying of his client, “She needs to renegotiate because she’s not getting anything near what the other girls are getting, and she’s the highest rated Teen Mom.”

“She feels certain that she deserves a raise, but there are plenty of other options out there,” a different insider adds. “She will quit the show if she doesn’t get that extra money.”

UPDATE - Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham spoke with HollywoodLife.com about the story:

“I don’t think they should care about what anyone else has to say, but they should also make the right choices for themselves,” Farrah reveals. “If they’re going to be making publicly bad choices, I would completely understand if they didn’t want that to be publicized any further.”

“I want to become a role model for others,” she adds. “I don’t know where the other girls see themselves, but they definitely have to make their own choices for where they see themselves going in the future.”

I’m not sure about the Leah insider, but that is a direct quote from Jenelle’s manager, so I suppose there has to be some truth to this. If that’s the case, it should be an interesting game of contract chicken! But who knows, with Teen Mom 3 officially in the works maybe MTV would be willing to just walk away from Teen Mom 2 after Season 3.

My guess is that there will be some sort of compromise. Remember, the network was willing to negotiate with the Jersey Shore crew, and gave them a raise up to $100,000 an episode for Season 4, which equated to $1.3 million. And also remember, they filmed Season 5 in the same year so the cast’s annual salaries were actually $2.6 million at least.

I’m not saying the stars of Teen Mom should be making $100,000 an episode, but I don’t see why they shouldn’t be making as much as the Shore folks in proportion to the ratings. Let’s do the math shall we?

There are 8 cast members on Jersey Shore. For Teen Mom 2 there are only four, but let’s assume that the baby daddies and possibly a select few family members also get a little coin for their appearances and round that number up to 6.

Jersey Shore gets about 6 million viewers an episode and Teen Mom 2 gets 3 million. MTV is paying the Jersey Shore cast $800,000 an episode for 6 million viewers, so they should be able to pay half of that for half the viewers right? So that’s $400,000 an episode split 6 ways, which equals just under $67,000 an episode for each of the four main Teen Mom 2 stars.

Multiply that times 13 episodes (We’ll count the two-part reunion special as one episode as well as the two-hour episodes) and the result is right around $867,000 per season.

Something else to remember is that the Jersey Shore folks are able to make a lot of money with endorsements and appearances (The Situation was rumored to have made close to $5 million in 2011 for example).

I’m sure lots of people would complain that $867,000 a year is too much money to pay someone “just for getting pregnant at 16,” but this is a business and these girls are generating millions of dollars in revenue for MTV, so I think they deserve to earn as much as any other television star, actor, athlete, or musician generating similar amounts of money for their companies. If some teenager wrote an autobiography about being a teen mom and it got turned into a successful movie, I’m sure no one would be complaining that she was getting “paid for getting pregnant as a teenager.”

That’s my two cents. What do you think? (Either way, I sure would hate for Jenelle and Leah to quit Teen Mom 2!)

They should cancel Teen Mom 2. Who do these girls think they are? They are not ‘famous’ They are pregnant teens who got lucky enough to be on a tv show. The gravy train should be over for all of them.

      • Nathan

        Amen

      • Zilly

I agree, “real” teen moms have no money, usually live at home,
they aren’t out fighting, using drugs, drinking, a real teen mom is at home w/her baby, MTV has glorified teen moms

        • Christina

I was a teen parent and like some of us, I was home with my son. However there are girls I know who are just like Jenelle, and some even worse. I don’t think MTV glorifies teen pregnancy/parenthood negatively, however I think they focus on the wrong topics a lot of the time. I also think that they should change the focus of teen mom’s who do nothing beneficial with their lives, and who clearly keep having issues.

      • brianna

Amen to that!!!! This show makes being a teen mom look coo land fun! I dont know any real struggeling teen moms with paychecks like them!

    • chrissy

They are reality “stars” just like the cast of Jersey Shore and the Kardashians, why shouldn’t they ask for more money? And actually they are famous, not for any talent but most people know who they are and they sell a ton of magazines.

    • Agree 100%

Boohoo to “mom of 4.” Read the article retard, it clearly states that their salary is not based on the fact “they got pregnant at 16″, but based on the fact they are in a t.v. show and deserve to be paid like every other musician, actor or celebrity is. I agree with this article 100%, they deserve to be paid equally and with the same standards as every other show on MTV. If not, that’s unfair and their being taken advantage of. If what you say about Jenelle being ranked as the highest mom on the show and being paid the least, that right there is already a sign of disrespect and shows she’s being taken for granted/advantage of. You get em Leah & Jenelle!!!!! MTV is money hungry just like everyone else in that industry- you make the show what it is, not them! You deserve what’s yours. If people are saying you shouldn’t be paid because of what the show is about, you’re ignorant and STUPID. Its 2012, get with it, people have babys at 14, clearly the mom of 4 is stuck in her old age era. Its a reality show just like Jersey Shore and you deserve exactly what this article states. Bottom line, its not fair to be paid less because of the content of the show, that’s bullshit and doesn’t even make sense.

      • ohmygeez

Read the article retard, it clearly states that their salary is not based on the fact “they got pregnant at 16″, but based on the fact they are in a t.v. show and deserve to be paid like every other musician, actor or celebrity is.
        ————————————

Only they are NOT musicians, actors or celebrities. They are teens who had unsafe sex and think they should be rewarded for it.

        • Sarah

Kim Kardashian isn’t a musician or an actress, and why is she even a celeb? Because her parents have money and they now endorse everything that come’s out of their arse? A lot of people are getting paid to do stupid things, so why shouldn’t the teen mom’s cash in as well?

      • Nathan

Geez, calm down. No reason to call people “STUPID” just because they disagree with you, Jenelle. A person is worth whatever someone will pay them. If it weren’t for MTV, these girls would be just another white trash single mom on welfare. They have no talent or skills; they are “famous” solely because MTV created them.

MTV’s got the upper hand here. I would be almost positive that these girls’ contracts say they cannot appear on any other program without MTV’s permission, so it’s not like they can go to VH1 and get their own reality show. They’re not going to quit and give up the money.

And, the content of the show DOES matter. MTV claims that this show is supposed to prevent teen pregnancy by showing teen girls how difficult it is. When you start paying these moms outrageous salaries for having done nothing with their lives except getting knocked up while they were still in high school, it undermines that stated purpose.

      • Katrina

Just because you don’t agree with “Mom of 4″ doesn’t make her stupid or ignorant. She is allowed her opinion just like you, and I find your use of the word “retard” extremely offensive!
The point of the comment section is for people to be able to post their opinions freely!

Also, you might want to check yourself before calling someone else stupid…for example…

“it’s unfair and their being taken advantage of” is incorrect use of the word “their”- it should be “they’re.”

        Have a nice day!

        • Kris10z

THANK YOU for calling attention to the offensiveness of the use of “retard”. May I suggest to everyone to visit http://www.r-word.org and learning to have a little respect.

        • chrissy

Very well put! I see someone’s argument as less valid if they have to stoop to calling people names to get their point across.

    • Der

Agree 100% – Jenelle is that you?

    • kathy

      then quit!!!

    • ohmygeez

Don’t preach that you’re in it to help others avoid teen pregnancy when all you really want is a paycheck. I would be devastated if my girls looked up to these jokers. MTV jumped the shark a long time ago with these reality shows.

    • Melissa

I dont personally like Jenelle and could care less if she quit. As far as the ratings vs pay thing, that may be what you deserve but doesnt mean that’s what you’ll get. MTV has made a show where the characters are ever changing. MTV will still make the same amount of money with new girls they can pay way less. So if I was them, I wouldnt be too demanding. A lot of money is better than no money.

    • Katie

I’m sorry but each of these girls is replaceable. If they think there are better opportunities out there, go get them. This is a documentary series to prevent teen pregnancy, not a way to make a ton of money and pimp yourself out for profit. Go be on the Surreal life or Survivor or the Real World. The show will go on with or without the girls. I don’t think MTV is finding it at all difficult to find girls willing to make the show.

    • Tamara

I don’t think they need anymore money! They got lucky enough to be on a tv show when they were pregnant. They could just kick them off the show all together and let them see what it really is like to be 16 and pregnant or a teen mom and struggle because you can’t afford to take care of your child because your a minor. I think their being spoiled for doing nothing. As far as the JS morons their just that,Morons. They do stupid shit just to keep their show. Not that snooki is pregnant that show will go down hill.

    • ER

Hmm… poor teen moms being FORCED to make money off of having their lives filmed… if only they had some other option, like getting real jobs?

    • Caroline

I don’t think they should get paid that much, but I also do not think they should film that much. I think they should have their 16 pregnant episode and then a follow up once a year. One episode a year is enough to catch up on how they kids and moms are doing and coping. Too much of the season (espically teen mom 2 cast) the episodes were about the same things. How many times did we hear Chelsea say she was going to breakup with Adam or get a GED? How many times did we see Jenelle breakup with Keifer or get kicked in and out of her mom’s house? and Kail dropping off Issac and complaining about school work and money? We could have easily seen a 1 hour update on each girl and learned everything we saw in the season. This would also solve the constant filming issues (giving the moms/kids more of a normal life)and we would not have too see those silly wigs!

    • AMANDA

They are subjected to so much judgement, and ridicule, they deserve to be paid & who cares how she got to where she is? Why should MTV make all this money and not share it with the people that are earning it for them… MTV isnt taking the heat for these girls being pregant.. The CEO of mtv (dont know who?) doesnt have his name splashed across every tabloid every week … and hes making all the money.. these girls are doing a job (not that it is hard work) But emotionally it will take its toll, and they deserve to be paid for it..

      • ohmygeez

They made a choice to be part of the show so any judgments people make or toll this takes on them is of their own doing. Reality will be when the show is over and MTV is no longer providing the cash flow. I believe Janelle will finish school as much as I believe she actually wants Jace back. And Leah is just another clown car uterus in the making. And the parents of these girls are nothing more than support systems for their bad decisions.

        • ohmygeez

          Jenelle, not Janelle.

        • AMANDA

You can say that all you want,.. bbut you’re not living with the everyday pressure, and you dont have to worry about going to the movie theatre and getting jumped because of what the whole world knows about you. You can pretend you know what they go through, but you dont, and they never could have anticipated the negative feedback, and judgement… We all think we would be able to handle it.. but it’s everyday for them, and its more than they expected.. im sure of it..

MTV shouldnt be the only ones profiting from this..

    • none ya

i dont think they should get paid anything honestly..i mean they were the s**ts that got pregnant so early in age anyways

      • AMANDA

How do you know if they are s**s? It only takes one time to get pregnant… You are obviously unhappy in your life… no need to take it out on other people

& s**t or not, YOU wouldnt go on TV to have people call you a s**t and everything else in the book.. for no money.. GET REALLL!

        • none ya

well if they are 16..they shouldnt be doing that stuff anyways….obviously youve never read the bible.you shouldnt do that until your married…they werent…were they? GET REAL

    • way old mom

The “reality” of life for these young women is no longer any interest to me. After the last round where things were scripted and clearly the money has impacted their lives, any comparison to real life as teen mom is gone. Dump these 4 and wait a couple of years to do a follow up – whatever happens in between isn’t going to be that interesting. You start paying by the viewing audience and they will be wearing bikinis to doctor appointments??

    • k

So, janelle thinks she should make as much as the other girls, why? Because she spends most her time in jail, on drugs, and doesn’t even have custody of her only child? MTV is making the right decision on not offering her a raise. You don’t get rewarded for bad behavior!

    • Shawawa

Pay Jenelle for what? Being a bad mom? Being promiscuous? Screaming at her mother, who takes care of HER son?
It’s ridiculous. Jenelle is a bad person and a horrible role model. Get her off tv. Get some responsible parents and pay them. How about instead of 16 and pregnant make a show called, 25 and birth control failed. Instead of Teen Mom how about Mom whose career had to be put on hold in order to raise a child in a stable environment. I suppose there isn’t money in things like that though -_-

      • Zoe

I agree..what the heck are they thinking? I cannot stand Jenelle, and no I don’t care I only see a small part of her life..nothing can redeem herself from all the crap she’s done, or not taking care of her son full time STILL. The show is called Teen MOM, she’s not doing what a mother does, why is she even on that show? I’d be happy to see her off the show, as well as anyone else who doesn’t fufill the ‘mom’ part. I guess MTV keeps the idiots on for ratings, instead of showing responsible, mature people.

    • Josephina

I agree with momof4. Anyways, Teen mom 2 is over with, their on to Teen mom 3

    • rie_rie

Good leave! I won’t miss you! I liked Leah at first but she is a money/fame hungry spoilt brat! Honestly I don’t like any of them anymore! Chelsea I liked at first but she has gotten so lazy, Leah is a lying cheater…and since I’ve seen that ruin relationships, it doesn’t set well with me…Kailyn complains and is a total hypocrite. and Jenelle is just a big handful of crazy! and somehow she is my favorite =)

    • amy

I read this as these two are more about the money then setting an example. To be honest and this is my opinion I think enough is enough they have ran their course and we see they struggle so this show should be taken off and the girls should go find a real job or finish school, as some are, but every year maybe bring them back for a update on how they are doing. Plus how many teen moms or 16 and preg. are they going to do. We have seen the course of action is there not something better they can film about.

    • Ceci

      two trailer trashes

    • Shawawa

Oh oh oh! How about a show about all the poor grandmothers that get stuck with their teenage daughter’s/son’s babies?! They’re the ones that should be making the money anyways.

      • ohmygeez

Barbara should be the one demanding more money, not Janelle. ;)

        • none ya

I agree…jenelles mom took care of that child when jenelle was out partying and doing drugs,, and getting arrested, and all she did was go on vacation that onetime and steal her moms credit card…jenelles mom should get jenelles paycheck

    • xo

Agree100%, are you insane? You can’t have teen moms making that kind of money and still have a realistic storyline. Teen moms are usually living with their parents and have minimum wage jobs. The teen moms on Teen Mom 1 AND Teen Mom 2 already have pretty unrealistic storylines. Look how Maci was able to move out of her parents house, rent a 800 dollar amonth apartment, drive a nice car, attend college, and have no job.

The Jersey shore kids could have money and the show could still be about people at the Jersey shore. The Kardashians always had money. Reality shows about celebrities are a different story altogether because the public interest is generated from their success. The money does not change the dynamic of any of those shows.

And Jenelle should make less than the others. She doesn’t even have custody of her kid, her entire storyline is her out being a flunkie with other losers. What does that have to do with being a mom? They should have replaced her with someone else back when she gave her kid to her mom.

    • Heather

I see everyone’s views on this issue. But they are out in the public eye for everyone to scrutinize their every move. Leah just got attacked a few weeks ago while going to the movies. They do deserve a decent chunk of money, because like stated before MTV is making TONS of money off of them putting their personal lives out there for the world to see. Yeah sure they are getting paid for getting pregnant at 16, but the Jersey Shore cast is getting paid to party and hook up with everyone and the Kardashians (who I know have a whole business empire that they make money from, but not the point right now) make money from fighting with their family and significant others and having quickie marriages and divorces, babies, and sex tapes (nothing against them, I actually love their show). My point is they should get paid a good amount in comparison to the other shows on television.

    • Anne

This is ridiculous. They did nothing to be getting paid so much, and by MTV upping their salary why should they even bother now to go to college when they’re getting paid to sit on
their butts and let cameras film them. Another thing I don’t get is when people say their lives are getting filmed so they should get paid like any other actor, celebrity, or musician. I believe they knew this when they signed with MTV so don’t act like a martyr that you don’t have privacy.

    • niki

I think that haters should just get a FREAKING life of their own. If they don’t Like this show then don’t watch it. I just moved to wv and have meant ppl who have or knows leah and say she’s a sweet caring loving person and great mom. They are definitely not glorifing the teen pregnancy actually trying to teach teens how hard life is. How they should think twice. I know my little sister definitely did not have it easy at all and is blessed my parents are such great supporters of her. And i think that ppl need to quit sayin they have it easy these girls go around the country teaching the kids that their lives have changed a lot. So please leave these girls alone they get it enough. You should congratulate them on putting their lives out there to show that its not easy and too think about it.

    • Blahblahblah

Nope. The “storyline” of their struggle would be skewed and it would only be sending out the wrong message. “Look kids, get pregnant young and you too can soon purchase your own Mercedes!” MTV has to keep that in mind *because* of the fact that its business. Their incentive from the beginning should have been college funds for their babies….even themselves, though young mothers are entitled to PLENTY of handouts. And remember Real World, they don’t get paid either. They could turn their 15 minutes into something, but they don’t ever get paid to have the cameras on them for 18+ hrs a day. I don’t watch Jersey Shore, I haven’t even seen one episode of it, but those folks are basically created characters. At first, it was a show about Italian guidos and “guidettes” and there was so much outrage from Italian American groups….there’s no more talk of that because now its just about people partying. I don’t think they’re even in Jersey anymore!? That’s less reality tv, more mindless entertainment MTV had their hand at creating. I don’t think you can compare a well-written book that took someone’s time, energy and money to being filmed for a documentary-like tv show.

    • http://Starcasm.net Piper

Congrats!!! Rewarding stupidity seems to be the common theme in today’s world .

      • Jamie

        Agreed.

    • sabrina

sad that their paying these kids for making poor choices that will forever effect their lives

    • Millie

No they shouldn’t get paid so much. MTV is completely the wrong network for this show. It’s far from the educational documentary they wanted it to be when they aired the 1st season of 16&preg. MTV found out that these girls made them big bucks, that’s why they want to carry on with this franchise. For example, does anyone remember the show Baby High? It obviously didn’t create the big money, but the show showed real struggles. As each season of TM(2) goes on you can see the financial struggles are disappearing, with no explanation in the show. I mean hardly any of the girls had jobs but they all managed to get a new place or car, something expensive. The scenes are becoming so fake too, they should just drop the show. It’s sending out the wrong message, especially as people know the large salaries, and you know MTV will keep casting pregnant teens, which kind of defeats their main purpose, obviously the new girls didn’t learn a thing from the earlier seasons.

    • this is crap!

I haven’t seen anything on twitter from Leah or Jenelle about quiting TM2, or on Teenmomtalk, which is a blog that stalks all the teen mom girls. So I don’t believe this at all!!

      • Starcasm Staff

Jenelle did retweet this article, but they can’t say anything about their salaries or any negotiations they may be involved with! https://twitter.com/#!/pbandjenelley_1

        • this is crap!

She retweeted it because you mentioned hern mame. I think the “fame” has gotten to all of them. I found this article that she also recently retweeted http://theteenmomgossip.blogspot.com/2012/03/is-jenelle-evans-quitting-teen-mom-2.html

          • Starcasm Staff

That’s talking about the same thing, so not sure what your point it is. Was just responding to your comment that there was no mention of this on her Twitter, which isn’t true because she retweeted two stories about it.

    • xo

GTFO Niki, you make no sense at all. They DO glorify teen pregnancy, how many of those girls have made big money from speaking engagements and writing books after being on the show? Farrah, Ashley and Maci all have books coming out. They DO NOT portray life as a single mom as hard, the ones who are on the show and having a hard time of it like Jenelle and Amber are not the ones that stupid teenagers who think they can raise a kid at 16 years old identify with.

The message of the show is, ‘hey kids, don’t do me and have a kid at 16 and get on mtv and be able to afford a car and your own place and film mtv and do speaking engagements for a living’.

They make teen motherhood look a LOT easier and more glamourous than it really is.

    • KAITEY

None of the other shows are claiming to be tools to prevent a disastrous situation, but the Teen Mom franchise does. So, hell no these girls should not get paid more. To be an authentic tool they should get paid what most young mothers get paid…MINIMUM WAGE. They all need to drop the act and get over themselves. They are no better than the teen moms down the street.

    • LIES

That photo up there is so Photoshopped it’s disgusting. They look like zombies.

    • maliboo barbie

Seriously ??? Now that is funny .. If anyone from MTV is reading this… news flash.. you could loose both these girls and your ratings will probably go up. Whenever Janelle is on I take advantage of that time to surf other channels or take a bathroom break.. The only thing entertaining about her is her mom. As for Leah. she is just a spoiled brat who makes me want to rip my ears off every time she speaks. If I were MTV queen for the day. Id keep Corey and his adoreable lil’ girls and ditch Leah… If either one of them stands a chance of being productive adults they need to get out of the spotlight . And while your at it , throw Amber into early retirement as well.. Clearly she is not cut out for prime time. Now that i think about it,Im bored with all of them.. its time for a new less annoying cast of characters Maybe have a reunion or “where are they now “show to deal with the others. That will bring them back down to earth…

    • tab

leah looks different in that picture. is she a victim of bad photoshopping or did she have some work done?

      • ohmygeez

        Leah’s nose looks off.

    • BBT

Ugh, what’s wrong with their faces? Especially Jenelle. Photoshop gone bad!

These girls are LUCKY that they happened to have this opportunity to be on TV.

None of them have to get real jobs, have way more money than they deserve. 67k an episode? People all over the place don’t even make that working a full time job in a YEAR, often with another part-time one on the side! After taxes… even less.

These girls don’t have to work. They do a couple days worth of shooting every month and live in cushy apartments.

This has stopped being reality of teen parenthood, the only ‘reality’ is that they fight with their babydaddies, and have relationship and parent drama. Boo effing hoo, you don’t worry about buying diapers and still having money for rent. You don’t worry about your car payment being due and still needing to get groceries.

Jenelle just wants more money so she can keep f-ing up and still be able to post bail.

This show is getting worse and worse and further from the reality of teen motherhood.

I wish they could show it for real, without the MTV paycheck.

    • D

I really wish TM and 16&P stayed the way of the documentary. Jersey Shore cast members get paid to put on a show. They act it up. That’s why they make big bucks. They’re not just having their “lives” filmed.

    • Lola

Leah looks bizarre in that picture and Jenelle looks like Heidi Montag!

    • Daisy

I don’t care if I never see them on TV again. I was such a big fan of Leah as I am a WV gal myself. Her extremely poor choices have cast a negative light on the state yet again. It is one thing to accidently get pregnant, it is another when you do it again with another man six months after your divorce to your baby daddy (even though the supposed pregnancy resulted in a loss). If she is worried about what it is going to do to her life, then quit and find another income source to support yourself and children.

    • Katie

I say let Jenelle go then! She’s doesn’t even deserve the title ‘Mom’ in my opinion.

Totally agree! If MTV was smart they would only film one year after every 16 and pregnant episode with select few girls and then maybe periodically update people on their progress. That way they are put in a more realistic position to care for their kids the way teen moms would have to and then maybe some of these girls could be considered role models.I wish i had the perks these girls do and im a 26 year old single mother to a 3 year old. Makes me cringe to think that they aren’t grateful that they have more means to care for their kids moreso then others.

      • Tina

I think that most of these girls are doing a great job, and yes they should get paid!!! If you were on tv, would you wanna get paid? HELL YEAH, and dont even try to lie. I think the people that say stupid shit are just jealous bc they cant be paid to go on tv!! Keep your heads up, girls, you are doing great!!! :-)

    • mel

Yeah they’re totally greedy brats. Absolutely talentless. MTV should just get rid of them.

      • lovelula

but it’s never going to happen. they make too much money for mtv!

      • Elizabeth

What about the Jersey Shore cast?? You wanna talk about no talent. It’s ridiculous. At least these girls are somewhat attempting to do good.

    • tamar

mel, I dissagree with you. As a teen mum myself, these girls have helped me through a lot with their stories. I started watching teen mom and 16 & Pregnant even before I got pregnant. If other MTV reality stars are getting paid more then why shouldnt they get whats entitled to them. On the other hand they also shouldn’t get too greedy for the simplr fact that they should appreciate what they do get as there are plenty of other teen mums who live off minimum wage. Thats my opinion. Though I dont want Leah and Janelle to quit!

      • Anon

“I started watching teen mom and 16 & Pregnant even BEFORE I got pregnant.”

Then I guess those shows didn’t do what they claim to do in your case – prevent teen pregnancy.

        • Lo

          *applause*

I am starting to doubt the accuracy of Teen pregnancy numbers from last year and I can’t see what the numbers are for 2012… In my hometown, two girls in my school got pregnant and then tried to get on mtv…MTV wasn’t their motive to get pregnant, they simplky got pregnant and then wanted to get on the show.) Still very sad…

        • katy

          1+

          Bravo.

    • Tinia Wesley

They are going to quit Teen Mom and do what, waitress? That threat of quiting is only valid if you have better offers. These act like there Angelina Jolie or something.

    • ds

Or they could, you know, get real jobs. And actually make something of themselves (instead of the walking punchlines each and every one of these girls is).

    • Stefani

No, actually they SHOULDN’T get paid more. It’s TEEN F***** MOM. The show that is suppose to ‘show a struggle’. Struggle my f***** ass.. seriously irritates me so much that this show has lost it’s purpose. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME NEW GIRLS and get rid of these ones. These girls are mostly in their 20′s with toddlers. NOT TEENS WITH BABIES. Let these girls go and actually do something with their lives before it’s too late.

    • white lamp

I understand Leah. Because she lost more than she won on this show, and MTV has own profit I’m sure. And Leah cares about two children, one of them has special needs. So I understand it.
But Jenelle?! She hasn’t the custody, she left his son, she didn’t anything for him… what does she want? and why?

      • white lamp

        hasn’t got / didn’t do

        sorry :)

      • Steph

Leah lost what she did becauseof her own wrong doings! She cheated on the father of her children, it’s her own damn fault. As far as pulling the ‘child with disabilities’ card; there’s a lot more she could be doing for that little girl on a DAILY basis! I have a son with disabilities, so I speak from experience. How about instead of spending money on her hair and her tan and her clothing and whatever other selfish things she spends money on; she puts it towards her children? Oh that’s right, she’s not mature enough to make ADULT decisions like that and manage money. These girls are suppose to be showing the difficulties and life changes a teen pregnancy and motherhood has on them, not looking for more money. They need to get real paying jobs and EARN a living. Being on t.v. is only going to last so long and really when they hit 20 they should be done because they are not ‘teens’ anymore and that is the name and object of both programs.

    • jenni

The dead beat mom TOTALLY WOULD demand a pay increase. MTV pays loser a$$ ‘JAAANELLE” to run around and not give a sh!t. The show is called “TEEN MOM.” How has Janelle been a mom????

    • K

This makes me so angry!!! Why should they get paid a stupid amount of money to do what millions of people do every single day??? These girls are NOT celebrities!!! The purpose of the show was to decrease the amount of teenage girls getting pregnant and its obviously not working since mtv have filmed what, 5 seasons of 16 & pregnant! How anyone can say the girls on TM and TM2 don’t glamourise teen pregnancy is beyond me! The girls are always flying all over the country as well as having nice cars, named clothes, hair, nails etc. It just shows how much the girls have changed an how important they think they are that they even dare to demand a pay rise!! Where the hell would the be without their mtv paycheck?? They need 2 realise, they are totally replacable!!!!

    • kris

Nobody ever said you should get paid for being a mother.

    • Shianne

The only reason Jenelle wants more money is so that there is more money in her bank account for bail money.

Leah wants more money so she can continue to get her hair and nails done and all those fancy clothes.

Even with 2 incomes, we are just getting by. These girls don’t know what the need for money is because they really don’t have a need.

    • katy

Why does Leah look 35 in that picture?!

      • mox3

I was thinking the same thing! She looks terrible!!

    • Natalie

I think they should get paid. And a fair amount too. I don’t think we should consider it paying them for getting pregnant. They put their whole lives on display for the world’s entertainment. Right or wrong it’s no better than Jersey Shore stars getting paid to party and have sex. I think Jersey Shore makes a way worse impression.

    • riss morin

It doesnt really matter if jenelle quits shes fk’ing ridiculous! Crying because she cant smoke anymore haha seriously needs a reality check. And leah aggh! Shes so simple i just dont care about these two teens moms.

    • deelee

Question…. What are Jenelle and Leah going to dao AFTER they quit? What kind of job could either one of them hold down making as much as they do? They have no real skills so what else can they possibly do?

    • CiCi

If they do get more money, I hope it’s put into a trust for their kids. I would hope these ladies’ real motives are to make better lives for their children?? Just sayin’.

    • Gg

I don’t think there is anything wrong with them being paid, they aren’t doing the show and putting up with the world in their faces about their choices for nothing. But threatening to walk is stupid. They are both easily replaceable.
Leah’s stories are all fake, she’s cheated like 7 million times. And jenelle has the most annoying story arc. The fighting is getting old. Its got to the point now where I am just amazed social services hasn’t taken away Jace. She should have given him away, to a family who would have loved and cared for him. She just feels guilty when it comes to him, you can tell. That’s not fair to him.
I think they should be careful, those 16&P girls are all DYING to be on teen mom. Especially Jordan, who is tweeting about how they haven’t decided about TM3 all the time. I think she’s the last person they would choose. I bet she was on the top list before she got pregnant again. Sad, because she’s so pretty and her story was interesting. But I would be disappointed in TM if they did choose her, it sends a bad message. Rant over ! :)

    • Brittany

Let’s take a look at Leah when this first started and Leah now. You’re telling me a girl that SUDDENLY starts wearing a crap-load of make-up, always has extensions and obviously gets her hair done all the time, isn’t greedy? It’s disgusting. It is so pathetic and disgusting. Leah looks absolutely nothing like herself. She should donate that money she spends on her hair, nails, and make-up to some genetic research organizations and centers so that they can have the funds to discover and create treatments for children who, in the future, may be in the same situation that she and her daughter are in. Or even raise money. No, she just wants a bigger paycheck for herself.

I agree with Farrah; make bad choices and get the **** off of the show. They should not be rewarded for repeated mistakes. I used to dislike Farrah but she has obviously learned something and has improved. Leah, Jenelle, and Amber have not. They need to be sent home packing.

    • amelia

Janelle isn’t even a MOM!!!!! Just b/c she gave birth does NOT mean she is a MOM. Let this piece of trash go already!!!! Leah is a skank who gives teen Mom & women a bad name with her hoochie way! Next…

    • Whitney

I wish they would cancel Teen Mom & Teen Mom 2. Why do I wish this? Just look at what the “stars” have become! They aren’t role models in any way, shape or form. They are silly little girls who were blinded by the thought of being on tv & let tv producers exploit the consequences of their poor decisions.

Oh, & just a heads up to Leah & her mom – the majority of us in the Elkview & Charleston area hate you both. You walk around like you are something special when in reality you are nothing more than a walking punchline! Being on tv doesn’t change the fact that you’re trailer trash. Please do yourselves, those precious twins & the world a favor & stop fighting in public & online, demanding more money for doing nothing, & actually take steps to better yourself. For Leah, bettering yourself means getting an education, stop jumping from serious relationship to relationship & stay out of the public eye. For Dawn, stop living through your daughter & defending every bad decision she makes! You are her mother so start acting like it!

    • Savannah

ARE YOU SERIOUS!! A raise?? like they dont make enough now. $867,000 dollars is plenty of money for these girls.. its enough to raise their kids and make a living for their family. but out of all the pictures i see and the news i hear they basically spend the cash on pointless sh*t.. Talk about some greedy girls.. While they are out there making millions by being on tv there is men and women out they sacrificing their lives for us and this country and dont even make anything close to what they make but they dont complain. GROW UP and get over yourselves. They are not going to be famous forever. just saying!

    • SoccerDad

How sad that these girls, who were either too ignorant to know how to use birth control, or evil and selfish enough to try to trap their boyfriends, now get paid to be on TV.
And then their emotionally disturbed children are going to end up in prison or drug rehab and are going to cost us a bunch of money taking care of them after their loser mothers have spent all of the money on vanities like breast implants.

      Sad and pathetic

    • Adrienne

NO! They should not get paid a bunch of money for being pregnant teen mom wh*re’s. That is not a good example to other girls and that is not reality for most struggling teen moms. You are just scared that you won’t have anything to write about.

    • Keith

MTV is telling 16 yr olds, its okay to get pregnant. Get knocked up, make the show, make more money than you would in you want to college and got a degree. SMH….

    • TeenMomMyself

I agree they shouldnt be greedy and want more money as a teen mom myself i would love to be making half the money they do. Getting pregnant at 16 doesn’t make you a wh*re it just means you weren’t careful and didn’t take the right steps in preventing it. Jenelle for starters really needs to spend more time with her son and enjoy him being little. When that little boy grows up he’s going to have hatred toward his mother for not being there and choosing some guy over him. The day she got pregnant she lost and gave up her freedom to do as she pleases and needed to start preparing to be a mother for the rest of her life not just when it was convinient for her.
As for leah, i like her, right she shouldn’t have done some of the things she did like cheat,or jump from one marriage to the next but she seems like a good mother. No one if perfect and everyone makes mistakes all we can do is face the consquences and lean from them. Remember she has TWINS, having one at 16 is tough I can only imagine whats it like to have two and having one with problems. Then again we only see what they show on TV we don’t know what these girls’ lives are really like when the cameras are off. Keep up the good work Leah, and Jenelle please get some help, get better and be in your childs life he needs you!

This looks like a tabloid website, and looking at their magazine covers, I’m pretty sure they are. DON’T BELIEVE TABLOIDS!!! THEY ALWAYS LIE!!!! Stick to the facts and go on Twitter or any other VERIFIABLE source.
