The Eagles fans, media, and Lurie crucified a man with no criminal record, with no gun shootings, no running people over with cars and yet let a man who abuses dogs and kills them for fun into the organization. The Eagles truely do suck. I wish lots of injuries on michael vick. It will be a small price to pay for those dogs he killed. Maybe someone will break his neck on the field. But, it is most certainly part of the debate. As a sports fan I just don't see all the distraction being worth the chance that Michael Vick could contribute as a backup quarterback or integral figure in some sort of rarely used wildcat package. On a personal level, I have to believe Vick deserves the opportunity. The pessimist in me believed he was going to get off scott-free thanks to some high-paid lawyers, so I'm surprised he was convicted and actually wound up serving close to a year behind bars. I KNOW dogfighting is a terrible crime, but Vick was convicted and served his time. Even if you are a big animal rights activist you have to believe that people have the potential to be humbled - to realize they made a mistake - or else why campaign so hard for that consciousness change? Michael Vick had a lot to lose and he lost almost all of it. I believe it was enough of a punishment to allow him to throw a ball to other men for money again.
