NFL Michael Vick Eagles Signing Shocks Fans VIDEO

Michael Vick signs with the Philadelphia Eagles disappointing at least one diehard fan

Michael Vick has signed a two year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, a shocking move considering the Eagles were one of 26 teams claiming to have no interest in the former first round draft pick. My how things change when your backup quarterback gets hurt! Eagles backup QB Kevin Kolb strained a knee ligament earlier this week, opening the door for Vick and a $1.6 million contract for the first year and an option for $5.2 in the second year.

Michael Vick is available immediately for practice and is eligible to play in the last two preseason games of the season. He can’t participate in regular season games until he is reinstated by the NFL, which commissioner Roger Goodell says he will consider by week 6 (Oct. 18-19) at the latest.

The news was announced during the team’s preseason game against the New England Patriots and according to ESPN, the “stadium was buzzing by halftime as word spread. Fans standing on the concourse were in disbelief. One guy wondered how quickly he’d be able to buy a Vick jersey. Another asked if this was a joke.”

Funny how Terrell Owens never got a second chance. The Eagles fans, media, and Lurie crucified a man with no criminal record, with no gun shootings, no running people over with cars and yet let a man who abuses dogs and kills them for fun into the organization. The Eagles truely do suck. I wish lots of injuries on michael vick. It will be a small price to pay for those dogs he killed. Maybe someone will break his neck on the field.

Check out the article I wrote about this, it was submitted to the Eagle’s Marketing/Promotions dept by a few of my loyal readers. I am embarrassed to be from Philadelphia today.

Stephanie – That is some hardcore stuff! But, it is most certainly part of the debate.

As a sports fan I just don’t see all the distraction being worth the chance that Michael Vick could contribute as a backup quarterback or integral figure in some sort of rarely used wildcat package. On a personal level, I have to believe Vick deserves the opportunity. The pessimist in me believed he was going to get off scott-free thanks to some high-paid lawyers, so I’m surprised he was convicted and actually wound up serving close to a year behind bars. I KNOW dogfighting is a terrible crime, but Vick was convicted and served his time. Even if you are a big animal rights activist you have to believe that people have the potential to be humbled – to realize they made a mistake – or else why campaign so hard for that consciousness change? Michael Vick had a lot to lose and he lost almost all of it. I believe it was enough of a punishment to allow him to throw a ball to other men for money again.
