VIDEO – Bravo’s suicide prevention PSAs for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 2

After Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Taylor Armstrong’s husband Russell Armstrong committed suicide last month, everyone wondered if Bravo would delay airing the hit reality show’s second season. They’ve announced plans to re-edit the season, which spotlight’s Taylor and Russell’s crumbling marriage, but are going ahead tonight with the originally planned Labor Day premiere date.

Bravo shot some interviews with several of the Housewives to introduce tonight’s episode within the context of Russell’s suicide, and are airing two suicide prevention PSAs for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255.) Strangely enough, this premiere also coincides with National Suicide Prevention Week.

The first PSA features a number of statements beginning with the empathetic “We’be been.” They start out as statements of despair, and turn into statements of hope.

We’ve been labeled. We’ve been invisible. We’ve been miserable. We’ve been lonely. We’ve been controlled. We’ve been lost. We’ve been hurt. We’ve been hopeless. We’e been happy. We’ve been inspired. We’ve been ambitious. We’ve been found. We’ve been there.

The second features a very brief first hand account from Kevin Hines, who has bipolar disorder and attempted suicide in 2000. He now spends his life reaching out to help others who are struggling with thoughts of suicide.
