Rihanna grinds at Kadooment Day Parade

Sometimes it takes some pretty extreme images to remind me of exactly how much I’ve longed to stand under Rihanna’s umbrella. She’s so pervasive and has been photographed in so many hot ways you can kind of forget. But and I mean butt, these photos of the singer from the Barbados Kadooment Day Parade brought all her hotness back home and for that I’m very thankful. They are, so to speak, pretty and extreme.

This was a homecoming if you didn’t know as the pop star was born in Saint Michael, Barbados and did not move to the U.S. until the age of 16. Before these festive and seriously hot images Rihanna was making headlines for being exactly not that. She was seen out and about sans her red hair in a toned down outfit while doing some shopping.

Here is what she had to tweet about her upcoming stay in Barbados:

Rihanna also happens to be the official spokesperson for Barbados and at the Kadooment Day Parade which celebrates the culmination of the Cropover Festival which is a major annual street party she was doing her job oh so well. Here’s a shot of Rihanna’s redonkulousness in full effect (now this is how you officially promote something):

In additional Rihanna news it’s being reported that the singer is nearing completion of her 6th studio album to be called Louder. She’s set to perform on her native soil later this week.

Yep, these photos have certainly rekindled that old Rihanna fire that once again burns so bright but just in case you’re not quite there here’s one more patented long shot:

I never knew that there are so many people who are still so ignorant about Caribbean culture until now. It does confirm that Caribbean people are very intellegent because most of us can speak competently about other cultures around the world. let me give you ignorant people some advice; GO AND READ. READ about the histories and cultures beyond your tiny spaces and stop being IGNORANT and UNEDUCATED. Come on, it is now a global world.

            Yeah, right. Traditional decadence

Rhino . You have just threw any moral you had out the window. This is digusting behavior. Not cute looking. Hope you get it together soon. Seems like after the horrible time she went through with Chris no man brown. She has lost her mind. Trama will do that. Should have chose therapy over killing yourself.

I guess your not familiar with the tradition of Carnival. Those are costumes you have to wear in order to be involved. Carnival is a very old tradition and that’s what you are suppose to wear and that’s the traditional dancing you are suppose to do. You wouldn’t go to a country line dance and do the “stanky leg” would you? It’s the same concept. That is where she is from and it’s a part of her culture and heritage and who are you to say that it is wrong and immoral? Stop being so ignorant.

I feel she should be able to wear what she wants. She has a right to that, bad role model or not.

wow…you guys needa fly a plane over to the islands and please go durin Carnival ..
its ridiculous how the culture can b so boxed out and thats why the rest of the world sees it as such a big deal…when in reality its not even a big deall.
Jeez cant ppl be more diverse nowadays?

as a half 1/2 bajan, 1/2 trini who grew up in Brooklyn just minutes away from the West Indian Day Parade, Carnival, colors, music and dancing is everyday life. Up until age 7 I didn’t know there was any other way to dance besides “wukkin’ up” (which is what Rihanna was doing). As a Christian you wouldn’t find me doing it anymore (unless its with my hubby) but for the culture, thats a part of the heritage and fun.

i say good on rihanna. she has gone back to her home and done what everyone else there is doing! if they’re allowed to have fun, rihanna should be able too as well, without everyone dissaproving. ITS HER CULTURE! SHE WOULDN’T JUST GO AND WEAR A FANCY COSTUME LIKE THAT FOR NO REASON! WAKE UP WORLD!
