Pittsburgh LA Fitness gunman George Sodini had serious problems relating to women and even took a trip to California to participate in The Right Attitude Workshop with author/speaker R. Don Steele. Steele’s area of “expertise” is helping men (especially older men) become attractive to women (especially younger women) by teaching them to be more confident through their actions and body language. His books are featured on the coffee table in Sodini’s home tour youtube video, including Body Language Secrets: A Guide During Courtship & Dating, Office Politics : The Women’s Guide to Beat the System and Gain Financial Success and How to Date Young Women: For Men over 35. I assume that it was during this trip to California that Sodini took the photos featured on georgesodini.com before the posting his infamous dated journal. (You can see those images here.)

I consider myself fairly average when it comes to interacting with other people, and to me this Steele guy just seems like a blowhard selling “advice” to desperate men by telling them what they already know. Of course, his words might seem a bit more prophetic to someone with Sodini’s issues. I just can’t see the psychological merit of telling a group of shy men too be more confident, or as Mr Steele says it, “NICE GUY MUST DIE.” None of these men would be here if they had to ability to be more confident and less desperate just by willing it. (If you’re a professional psychologist, I welcome your input on this guy’s therapeutic methods.)

And then, the worst part to me, is Steele invites “Titanium Babes” (younger, attractive women) to sit in on the seminar as well. My guess is that the meet and greet with the girls during the break (see part one below) is to make the men in attendance say to themselves, “Wow! I talked to a really attractive young woman and it wasn’t so bad! Actually, I think maybe she really liked me!” Perhaps a little confidence boost isn’t a bad thing, and it would certainly help temper the ire of those in attendance thinking to themselves, “I flew here from Pittsburgh for this?” Now they can tell themselves, “Well, at least I got to talk to some pretty girls.” But, in my unprofessional opinion, the fake interactions only make things worse.
