It’s a wild thing when you see child actors grow up right in front of your eyes. This is especially true when it come to the leads in the Harry Potter franchise because their physical maturation has progressed from film to film as well.
If you can believe it, the above photo is actress Bonnie Wright who has played Ginny Weasley in the mega-popular box office busting films. The 20-year-old is making the professional career move of distancing herself from the famous character that she’s grown to be identified with. It’s a difficult struggle many child actors have when they become famous playing a singular role. I can personally say from that cover from Haute Muse I don’t see the young Bonnie at all!
In the final Harry Potter film, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II, her character will (spoiler alert) go through some serious changes with Harry. In a patented new Hollywood playbook move for someone looking to break out of their shell Wright’s next role will be in an independent film called The Philosophers. The plot for the film is described this way via IMDB:
At an international school in Jakarta, a philosophy teacher challenges his class of twenty graduating seniors to choose which ten of them would take shelter underground and reboot the human race in the event of a nuclear apocalypse.
According to Wright the role will be a challenge and departure from Ginny:
“So, the character I’m playing is outgoing, and she’s quite fashion-forward and quite cool in the classroom, but she’s very outspoken, so I’m very excited about that because Ginny was always quiet.”
