Kendall Jenner on birth control at 15

Kendall Jenner is on birth control at age 15

Ed. note: When this article was first published by a writer on the site, it expressed judgment on the issue of a 15-year-old being on birth control. It has been edited to better reflect the opinion of starcasm.net as a whole. Despite whatever reason Kendall Jenner is on birth control, taking birth control when you are sexually active is very responsible decision. It should be also noted that many girls who take birth control do so for other reasons besides being sexually active.

E has been rolling out teaser promos for the upcoming season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.  The theme is “family rules” and if what we’ve discovered from these clips are any indication we’re going to be seeing a lot more of the younger Ks, Kylie and Kendall.  In the clip, we’re shown daddy Bruce as he discovers that the 15-year-old is on the pill.

In an interview with E’s blog Khloe implied that young Kendall was on the pill for reasons other than birth control such as acne prevention and menstrual cramps.  She said:

“She is on birth control, but I don’t want it to be bad,” she said. “Because it’s not that reason why she’s on birth control.”

Even if Kendall is on birth control for more than cramps, this is an interesting issue. The truth of the matter is that many teens are sexually active, and it can be a very responsible decision to put your teen daughter on birth control. Realistic communication between parents and teenagers is the key to preventing teen pregnancy, STDs, and other problems that can interrupt a teen’s life.

It’s looking like Kendall is on birth control to control cramps, but even if she’s not we shouldn’t judge.

At least they are being pro-active about it. If it is for medical reasons, that is fine. If she is sexually active better for her to be on birth control than be pregnant at 15. No father wants to realize his baby is growing up but nothing will make her grow up faster than being a mom at 15.

I don’t think that a 15 year old’s use of birth control should be topic for a public discussion…she’s still a child, and doesn’t need the world talking about something as personal as that! It’s sad that it seems like her family cares more about increasing the ratings of their show than their daughter/sister.

My 14 year old cousin is on birth control for her acne. so I don’t think it is a big deal at all. who cares?

I don’t think she should be on birth control. If it is because of acne, there are plenty of acne treatments other than birth control, and she doesn’t have a noticeable problem with it anyways. And if it’s for cramps, she should take something for that. But a 15 year old definitely shouldn’t be on birth control. The worst part is that her parents let that be televised.

I think getting pregnant at 15 is a million times worse than being on birth control at 15. Wouldn’t you agree?

I wish I had been on birth control when I was 15. I started taking it when I was 17, but I experienced horrible, horrible cramps from the time I was 11 until a few months after I started taking the pills. Makes periods so much lighter and much more bearable. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is experiencing bad cramps (as long as you are a non-smoker). I went from taking 4 200 mg ibuprofen (pediatrician said to) every 4-6 hours and still being in pain to only needing 2 ibuprofen every now and then. I don’t think being on birth control when you are 15 is a bad thing, even for sexual reasons. If you are going to have sex, be responsible about it!

I’m 30 years old and I’ve had acne since age 13. I got on birth control pills at age 27 for the purpose of treating my hormonal acne. While on the pill, the acne is gone and if I get off the pill, the acne comes back. Kendall is on the pill for acne.

I’d rather see her on birth control than see her on episode of Teen Mom. So whatever her reason – cramps, acne or other – I am glad she is taking proactive steps to do what’s right for this time in her life.
