Last week at the Billboard 2011 Awards mega-star singer Beyoncé Knowles received the coveted Billboard Millenium Award and destroyed the audience with her first public performance of her new song, “Run the World (Girls).” She also reprised that performance for Oprah’s final show which you can see here.
She followed up those show stoppers with an appearance on American Idol’s finale not only singing a medley of her hits with many of the ladies from this year’s competition but also debuting another song, a powerhouse ballad called, “One Plus One.”
In this modern day of gizmos and gadgets and mega-producers and auto-tune sometimes you just get a little cynical whenever someone nails it on TV. Well Beyoncé’s man Jay-Z silenced all that jive when he uploaded the following candid and stunning clip of Knowles rehearsing vocals backstage in her dressing room. Turn up the volume and take a listen:
Jay-Z made this post under his blogging persona Andy WarHOV via the site Life and Times. He said of the clip:
Sometimes you need perspective. You’ve been right in front of greatness so often that you need to step back and see it again for the first time. This is the dressing room rehearsal for American Idol. NO MICROPHONE. No effects.
I’m feeling you Z and I’m feeling you too Miss Knowles. That was great!
