The Ricky Gervais Show’s Karl Pilkington to appear on The Simpsons

The Ricky Gervais Show's Carl Pilkington will reportedly be making an appearance on The Simpsons

Homer Simpson is reportedly getting some competition in the hilariously charming buffoon category as the round-headed star of The Ricky Gervais Show, Karl Pilkington, will be paying a visit to Springfield in an upcoming episode! Actually, Karl’s animated visage may not actually be in Springfield, but will reportedly be on the show in the form of a clip according to Ricky Gervais himself, who wrote this on his blog:

He’s excited about being on The Simpsons. I won’t give the joke away but they are featuring a little clip of The Ricky Gervais Show in a future episode. He said, “Good that init?”

Trust me. That’s him being over the f***ing moon.

Hmmmm… “a little clip of The Ricky Gervais Show?” I wonder if we’ll be seeing Karl on the television in the opening couch gag?

That’d be a little bit disappointing to be honest. I want Karl and Homer to bump into each other at Moe’s where they can talk about their mutual fascination with monkeys and life without hair. They could also swap work stories because hearing Karl in the studio with Ricky and Steve sounds verrrrry similar to Homer with Carl and Lenny at the nuclear power plant!

For “The More You Know” segment of this post let me point out that Ricky Gervais wrote and starred in The Simpsons episode “Homer Simpson, This is Your Wife” in 2006 in which Ricky voiced the other husband after Homer signs the family up for Wife Swap. We’re still waiting for Steve Merchant to get his chance – perhaps he will co-star with Karl?
